Legislative Actions That Other States Have Taken to Allow the Installation of Electric Car Charging Stations (ECCS) In Condominium Communities - "Right-To-Charge"

States that have nullified Condo restrictions on ECCS Installations:

To date 9 States, highlighted in orange, have passed laws called “Right-To-Charge” laws. These laws prohibit HOA’s and Condo Boards from denying permission for a homeowner to install an electric car charging station at their designated parking spot and makes any rule in a Condo Declaration that restricts that right to be “Null & Void”.

Maryland is the latest state to pass such a law on Oct 1, 2021

If you are interested in the actual laws in other states this link provides that information:

Please take notice that all of these laws that have passed State Legislatures and signed into law by the state’s Governors are all designed with the best interests of the residents of those states in mind.

And they all reflect the identical “Top Level Installation Plan” that I’ve outlined for Putnam Village in these webpages. There is no need to try to reinvent the wheel.

Back in 2022, I contacted PA House Rep Leanne Krueger and PA State Senator John Kane asking about whether or not PA legislatures were considering a bill similar to the ones I’ve noted above. Here are links to those responses:

Unfortunately, to date the PA legislature has not taken similar actions so for us to install ECCS we would have to amend our Declaration.

I will be contacting our legislatures again to see if there has been any movement on this issue.  I will provide updates on this site.
