DISPOSAL OF TELEVISIONS, DESKTOP COMPUTERS, LAPTOP COMPUTERS, COMPUTER MONITORS OR COMPUTER PERIPHERALS:
Heavy/Large
trash has been defined as any trash that will not fit into the blue trash
containers. That is still true but it does not apply to televisions, desktop computers, laptop
computers, computer monitors or computer peripherals. By law, these items cannot be included with
general trash. They can be disposed of in a number of ways:
1. They can be disposed of using the same procedures as Heavy/Large trash.
2. They can be disposed of free of charge at one of the E-Waste Programs
offered by the County of Delaware in conjunction with their Household
Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Events. Four annual events are offered
and the schedule is available by clicking on the link below:
Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program
3. Some stores will accept these items for recycling. Please refer to the "Recycling & Trash Procedures" link on our
"Recycling & Trash" webpage for stores that will accept these
electronic items for recycling.
But again, they must not be put in the blue trash
containers or set in the trash enclosures.
